As one of the legal infrastructure builders in China’s philanthropic sector, the Shanghai ForNGO Social Organization Legal Research and Service Center (hereinafter "ForNGO") and the Shanghai Fuguan Law Firm (hereinafter "Fuguan Law Firm") have pioneered an innovative business model where social organizations and enterprises collaboratively provide legal services to non-profits. This case chronicles the entrepreneurial journey of ForNGO and Fuguan Law Firm over the past decade, focusing on the design and implementation of the sister organizations' groundbreaking business model. It aims to help students: explore valuable insights into designing innovative solutions for social issues and resource integration by analyzing the organizations' profound connections through theoretical frameworks including Timmons' Model of Entrepreneurial Elements, business model innovation, and resource bricolage; deepen understanding of both universal principles and unique characteristics of social entrepreneurship; and cultivate systems thinking for addressing complex social challenges.
