The case describes the development of China Shengmu (01432.HK) since its establishment in 2009, aiming to showcase how Shengmu continuously upgrades its development philosophy, promotes the sustainable development of the enterprise through the synergy of environmental, social, and commercial values. The company's innovative "desert organic" model, based on the ecological rehabilitation of Inner Mongolia's Ulan Buh Desert, has made it a global leader in organic milk production. After Shengmu went public in 2014, it vigorously explored the C-end market but was hit by the dual impact of global dairy market fluctuations and insufficient internal capabilities, almost going bankrupt. In 2019, Zhang Jiawang took office and carried out radical reforms, reviving Shengmu within a year. Since then, Shengmu has upgraded its strategic philosophy, focusing more on the comprehensive investment and collaborative development of environmental, social, and commercial values, and has achieved brilliant results.
