英文摘要：
To address environmental challenges such as climate change, environmental degradation, and biodiversity loss, along with associated societal issues, China is actively promoting a green and low-carbon transformation of its economic and social systems. This shift requires the proactive participation and collective advancement of all enterprises. In this context, BYD is responding to the national initiative by faithfully implementing ESG principles and undertaking an ESG strategic transformation. Despite strong support from management, the novelty of the ESG framework and its emergence as a new business area means there is limited domestic precedent to guide these efforts. This presents critical challenges for BYD’s management in how to effectively initiate this transition. In response, BYD has chosen to focus on substantive ESG issues, strengthen internal audits and controls, actively engage in ESG disclosure, and manage ESG practices and risks. The success of BYD’s ESG initiatives and its ability to co-create value with stakeholders is yet to be determined. This case study examines BYD’s deep engagement in ESG to promote high-quality corporate development. By analyzing the motives, opportunities, and strategies behind BYD’s ESG efforts from a standpoint of information authenticity, it aims to deepen understanding of the internal logic of corporate ESG exploration within the existing sustainable development framework and provide valuable insights and inspiration for other enterprises looking to adopt ESG principles.
