Sustainable development has become a central theme, attracting the attention of numerous enterprises. However, while understanding it is easy, implementation is challenging. Many companies face financial shortfalls in the early and mid-stages of pursuing sustainability, leading those seeking quick success to give up early and others to hesitate.. Schneider Electric (China) Co., Ltd. established sustainability as its core strategy in 2002 and has consistently aligned its actions with this principle for over twenty years. Through digital transformation, the company shifted from passively implementing sustainability due to external policies to proactively driving it through digital means. On this basis, by innovating in products, services, and business models, and leveraging ecosystem empowerment, the company has achieved social, environmental, and economic benefits. This fostered an intrinsic motivation for long-term commitment to sustainability, evolving into a forward-looking sustainable development. Its experience demonstrates that sustainability can create economic value. This case study describes Schneider Electric's journey in digitally enabling sustainable development, showcasing practical steps in building a sustainable business model. It aims to guide students in understanding sustainable business models, the synergy between digitalization and sustainability, and inspire them to think about how enterprises can use digitalization to transform sustainability concepts into productivity. It also helps students understand the intrinsic interaction between digitalization and sustainable development.
