This case describes Inovance’s second entrepreneurial endeavor in the field of electronic vehicle components, as well as two major strategic transformations that occurred during this process. Inovance is a leading company in the field of industrial automation control in China. It has continuously expanded its product lines in industrial control and downstream industry applications. By chance, Inovance ventured into the manufacturing of electronic vehicle components, and quickly occupied the component market for commercial electronic vehicles. In 2016, Inovance announced a major foray into the electronic component market for passenger vehicles, and established the "Dual King Strategy", positioning the electronic vehicle component business alongside the industrial control business as the two strategic business segments of the group. With the explosive growth of the new energy industry, in 2021, Inovance further upgraded the "Dual King Strategy" to the "Dual Carbon Strategy", expanding its electronic business into the production, transmission, and storage of new energy. The electronic vehicle component business, which was previously one of the "Dual King" strategic business, has become a sub-businesses under Inovance’s new energy sector. This case aims to discuss why Inovance ventured into the electronic vehicle component business, how this new business thrived and its future direction.
