The case describes how HuBei Yihua Chemical Industry Co. Ltd. has been developed since 2001. The case focuses on its corporate culture development. Following the chronological sequence, the case focuses on what happens to the company before and after 2001. The case describes company’s reward practices, communication practices, and evaluation practices. It also introduces the change of corporate values, organizational climate, employee social processes, their attitude and behavior. The final part provides the information on merger practices of the case company and chairman’s birthday ritual.The hero of this case is Mr. Yuanhua Jiang, who is the CEO and board chair of the company. The purpose of the case is help students to understand the major factors affecting corporate culture, how can the managers use the corporate culture to achieve the social control. This way of managerial control is effective inducing the employees attitude, fostering the right norms and arouse the desired behaviors to fulfill organizational goals.
