The case describes the organizational development of Shanghai Better Education Development Center (“Be Better” for short hereinafter). The case revolves around how the hero Wang Sheng started and ran the enterprise and introduces the missions and breakthroughs, product development, organizational development and personnel management of Be Better. Mr. Wang Sheng, the enterprise founder, boasts strategic insights and great ambitions. He’s zealous about education, and he has his own knowledge and vision about the trend of economic citizenship education in China . Under his leadership and management, Be Better has grown into a sizable enterprise and expanded its business around the nation by relentless efforts, thus finding a path of sustainable development for a social enterprise. Be Better fixed on an operating model that features cross subsidization between philanthropy and business. Within such a model, product evolution keeps a steady pace, organization and management style takes on changes, and human resources management provides sufficient support. This way of sustainable development sets an imitable example for enterprises of the type.
