Abstract:
Shenzhen Power-Solultion Co. Ltd. is a born-global social enterprise committed to improving the quality of life of the bottom-of-the-pyramid (BOP) population globally. In its transition from a purely trading company to a manufacturing company, Power-Solution expanded its product line and diversified its operations to provide sustainable solar solutions to the BOP population living in areas without electricity. Power-Solution's solar products are sold in 63 developing countries, including Indonesia, the Philippines, India, and countries in South America and Africa, greatly improving the lives of more than 3 million families worldwide. The case first introduces Power-Solution's R&D design, quality control, marketing innovations, system construction, and team building. It then analyzes the company's bornglobal business model and its attempts to seek external support while improving its self-sufficiency. The case study helps students understand the conditions in which a born-global company is formed and its growth path, business model, and challenges.
