Abstract:
Grauer & Weil is one of the world's most famous large chemical enterprises. Following the increasing scale of the trade and investment, in 2007, GW established Grauer & Weil (SH) Ltd. as its sales subsidiary in Shanghai, China. However, because of some problems in the company positioning, senior officers, institutional arrangements and structure, conflicts are necessitated between the staff from India and those from China. Such conflicts especially concentrated in management communication, and have been one of the major causes of the company’s bad performance since established. This case analyzes the cross-cultural communication problems in Grauer & Weil (SH) Ltd. Through analyzing the events of communication conflicts, we discuss the impacts on the communication of cultural differences and its solutions, and sum up with the inspirations for China enterprises’ FDI.
