The case focuses on how Hubei United Investment Capital transformed from a traditional credit-based institution into an industrial ecosystem builder centered around supply chain finance. The case adopts the decision-making perspective of Huang Lu, the company's chairman, as its narrative thread, revealing the strategic choices made by the management team at critical junctures throughout the transformation. The case traces the company’s journey—from facing project defaults and hidden non-performing loans, to breaking through by establishing the "Lianliantong" digital platform, then innovating the "province-local co-construction" model to embed financial services locally, and finally extending to "province-province co-construction" to achieve cross-regional collaboration. The teaching focuses on three key areas: first, how digital technology empowers supply chain financial services and enables the shift from "interpersonal trust" to "digital trust"; second, how multiple stakeholders construct a supply chain finance ecosystem, particularly in defining the roles and balancing the interests of government, industry, finance, and technology participants; third, how financial services can transcend administrative boundaries, follow industrial chains for cross-regional extension, and form a financial system aligned with industrial layouts.
