As an important way to achieve high-quality economic development, digital and intelligent transformation in enterprises has received strong advocacy and support from national policies in recent years. Yunnan Tin Co., Ltd., a leading enterprise in the nonferrous metals industry, has taken the initiative. The company is working towards its goal of establishing a smart chemical plant, and is advancing its digital and intelligent transformation vigorously. It is setting a new industry benchmark. Against this backdrop, this case study examines the digital and intelligent tin smelting factory, providing an in-depth analysis of the company’s digital and intelligent transformation process. By tracing the development path of the digital and intelligent tin smelting factory, the study reveals the decision-making processes within the enterprise during its digital and intelligent transformation, helping students to understand such processes and their value creation mechanisms. The study helps students to comprehend the concepts, motivations, and value creation processes of digital and intelligent transformation, reinforcing theoretical knowledge while strengthening practical application awareness.
