In recent years, blockchain technology has developed rapidly in the world. Blockchain technology can establish a decentralized, reliable, traceable and transparent data storage and access mechanism, which helps all participants in the supply chain respond quickly to emergencies and ensure the resilience and security of the supply chain. Our case describes the process and method of sharing food information and tracing contaminated food by ChainMaker blockchain, a platform developed by Beijing Academy of Blockchain and Edge Computing (BABEC) and other organizations. We analyze the challenges and solutions in applying blockchain technology in supply chain management scenarios. This case demonstrates the complex food supply chain structure, the challenges of risk control and the value of a traceability platform based on blockchain technology. The purpose of this case is to inspire students to understand and analyze the structural characteristics, the information sharing mechanism and the tracing strategy of the cold-chain food supply chain. This case also generates insights on building a sustainable, safe and efficient supply chain.
