In recent years, due to the arrival of the Industry 4.0 era, upgrades of consumer preferences, and excessive production capacity in all sectors, the scale advantages of traditional companies no longer exist. Drawbacks of primitive management have gradually emerged, and digital transformation has become an inevitable trend. Midea began to deploy a digital transformation strategy in 2012 by implementing a new digital operation model centered on customer needs, improving efficiency, and increasing net profit. Through the process of digital transformation of Midea, this case aims to illustrate the motivations for traditional enterprises’ digital transformation, the challenges and key success factors in the process of digital transformation, and demonstrate how big data support the digital transformation of enterprises, and ultimately achieve agility. Furthermore, we aim to provide a reference for companies that are deploying digital transformation strategies through reflection and integration of key knowledge points.
