This case is a small analytical case. The case is set in the Century Golden Resources Shopping Centre in Kunming, Yunnan Province. It depicts Guo, the new arrived director of the operations department, observed and summarized the characteristics of the four managers and the four teams in the department, and eventually found that the reason for the low performance of the department was that the leadership style of the manager did not match the characteristics of the team being led. For this reason, the relationship between the four managers and the teams they lead was reorganized, and the Operations Department was eventually saved and the end of year performance won. This case is designed to help students understand the theory of contingency leadership, in particular the "goal-path theory". Understand that leaders should adapt their leadership goals to the situation and the characteristics of their subordinates and provide them with the conditions they need to achieve higher levels of satisfaction and performance.
