This case describes the tearing of values, the exit of founders and the second entrepreneurship story in the development of 1Kg Box, which was originated from the famous public activity named Carrying 1Kg More in 2004. In 2011, 1Kg Box was born but it was caught in an imbalance between education innovation and equity. The enterprise was not clear about its target users and business model, and the development stagnated. In 2015, it fell into a loss. After that, the original founder withdrew and the current CEO Chen Dan took over at the end of 2016. Chen focused on equity in rural education, based on China rural education insight, and reshaped the company’s mission, vision, values, business model, organizational structure and the product design process. She also broke through the dilemma of individual dependence and enterprise stagnation by decentralization, professional team and knowledge management. 1Kg Box second entrepreneurship contributes to a relatively low-cost, large-scale promotion of rural education solutions with significant results for this country.
