From the view of organizational evolution, this case describes the continuously organizing processes and current alternatives of Lenovo Group in its course becoming a global leading company in PC industry. The case aims to guide and direct students to analyze the company’s distinctive path of organizational evolution. At the beginning, it brings the current concerns and organizing issues facing Lenovo Group. After stating the relevant background, it introduce firstly the change of equity relationship between the parent company and its subsidiaries, then elaborates the evolution course of organizational structure in its business and regional expansion, centering on those key events or factors driving the organization evolving into its next stage. Afterwards, it presents some efforts trying to transforms Lenovo Group into a new entity for better meeting the “PC+” challenges, and inspires students to explore and discuss the proposed alternatives regarding the directions and ways to redesign its organization structure.
