This case utilizes the “Three Elements of Management” from Chuanzhi Liu, the founder of Lenovo Group, as the starting point to illustrate the management philosophy of Lenovo. “Three Elements of Management” includes “Forming Leading Group, Setting Strategies, Building Team.” By crystallizing the generalized management functions activities into the “Three Elements of Management” that reflects Lenovo’s growth process and specific situations, this case guides students to think about the process of how managers carry out management activities and the systematicness and contingency of the process.
